So, I have procrastinated this task for some time now...
Coming up with a cleaning schedule!
I love the smell, the feeling and the look of a nice clean house, but 1 hour after my house if just perfect, it for some reason falls apart! I can't seem to keep that perfectly clean house. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect to have my house perfectly clean at ALL times! I have 3 kids-that is totally impossible! BUT-my question is...How can I keep my house pretty clean, keep the clutter to a minimum, keep the toys and closets organized, and be a good mom all at the same time? I need to spend quality time with my 3 beautiful kids, and I don't want to be cleaning ALL of the time!
So, today I have been doing some research of cleaning schedules. Here is what I have come up with:
Daily Cleaning Schedule:
Clean Dishes
Wash Laundry
Tidy Up
File Papers{mail}
Wipe down all kitchen surfaces
Sweep floor
Wipe down all bathroom surfaces
Weekly Cleaning Schedule:
Vacuuming
Dusting
Cleaning: Entry and Patio Doors
Shake Out Door Mats
Straighten Books and Magazines
Clean Bathrooms
Change Linens in All Rooms
Clean Kitchen Sink
Stovetops
Microwave (inside and out)
Spot Clean Walls
Clean Leftovers from Fridge
Gather and Take Out Trash
Mop Kitchen floors
Monthly Cleaning Schedule:
Dust Ceiling Fans
Clean Light Fixtures
Dust Air Vents
Clean Window Treatments
Dust Intensively
Vacuum Inside Furniture
Clean Windows
Change Filters
Deep Clean Appliances-refrigerator, oven, microwave
Mop Bathroom floors
Organize all Closets
So I am going to try this cleaning schedule out and see how it goes! If any of you have advise for me or cleaning schedules or your own, please share! I need some help with the balance of clean house vs. Great mom!

I'm facing the same problem Andrea!! Let me know if you figure something out-I need all the help I can get!!
Sounds good to me! I think I need this advice before baby #3 gets here! (Funny, as I'm starring at a full basket of laundry that needs to be folded and put away!) So much for my daily cleaning! My mom's quote that hung in her kitchen said, "Clean houses never last hugs and kisses do!" I think I've taken that a little too seriously! AHH or the other one was, "Keeping a clean house is like threading beads on a string with out a knot on the end!" I think it's nearly to have it 100% all the time! Good luck.
Hey Andrea - I am definitely not great with this either! But I'll tell you what I do. Every Monday I have a specific cleaning schedule that includes everything in your weekly cleaning list and a few from the monthly (dusting, vacuum inside furniture, bathroom floors, etc.). And then I add one thing that is different that needs to be done but not as frequently. Like yesterday I organized the kid's playroom. Other times, I'll organize kitchen cabinets, or go through our closets and get rid of clothes that don't fit. Anyway, the idea is to keep my main cleaning to Monday and not feel overwhelmed with all the things I should clean. I'll get to them eventually. This works for me. I like to have a clean and organized house, but I can live with doing it at this rate.
As far as still being a good mom and spending time with the kids - I just know that Monday's I don't have as much time with them. They know I clean on Mondays and they play in the playroom and help me out here and there. We stay home all day.
So the rest of the week, I start my day just tidying up - making beds, dishes, vacuum every other day (my kids are messy!), and I do one load of laundry a day. This only takes me about 30 minutes of each day so the rest of the day, I don't worry about cleaning. If the house is clean when I go to bed then my days go much more smoothly.
On the weekends, the house gets pretty bad, but I know I'll start over on Monday so I just relax and let it be what it is. So there you go -- I know I don't do it perfectly and I wish I was better at balancing my need for cleanliness with letting my kids and husband live without yelling at them to pick up after themselves. But like I said, it works for me! Let me know if you have any ideas for me! Good luck!
Let me know how that goes Andrea! That is my haunting question EVERY day. How do I keep my house clean??? Cooking all the time definetly doesn't help!
In response to your comment on my blog, I will teach you how to make bread ANY day! You just let me know the time and date :)
I have to give myself one assignment each day, or it all seems too overwhelming. The list makes me want to do it all in one day, and then when I realize I can't, I just don't do any at all. So I give myself daily cleaning jobs which include the weekly/monthly jobs you have above, and that way I actually get it done. Just what works for me.
