This Thanksgiving was WAY different than any other Thanksgiving I have EVER had! It was the 1st Thanksgiving {or major holiday for that matter} that we were not around family. We were planning on traveling to Wyoming to visit Regan's family, but we decided that the roads were too scary and Regan's mom ended up getting sick. My family all flew to San Francisco, and we live far away from the extended family, so we decided to do a traditional Thanksgiving with just OUR family!!!
I ended up cooking everything we would have had-homemade rolls, mashed potatoes & gravy, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, frog eye salad, homemade cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, cauliflower casserole, chocolate cream pie, and Regan handled the turkey! Everything about that day was perfect! We started out with everyone hopping in the hot tub, we cooked & watched the Music Man, we played games, we ate great food and we had fun with just our little family!!!
Yes, we missed being with family, but it just proved to me that I am so thankful for my little family because we love spending time with each other! We had leftovers for the rest of the week and it was so nice to just heat up leftovers! I ended up going to Black Friday and getting some amazing deals.
The funny story this year from Black Friday was when I went to Toys R Us at 8:30, thinking that the line wasn't bad when I arrived. The doors opened at 9, so I saw the "end" of the line and got in! I started immediately talking to some girls in front of me and we were instant friends. About 10 minutes before the doors opened, I saw a few cop cars and I asked the girls why they were there. They told me that the line was wrapped around the building and that they were there for crowd control!!! I told them that I thought I was the back of the line, and they wondered where I had come from since they had been waiting in line since 3:00 that day!!!! Fortunately, I was not competition for them since they wanted wii games--honestly, I had no idea that the break in the line was the end of the line...instead they had to break the line in half to clear the entrance to old navy---OOPS! I was in and out of that place in 5 minutes--got my 2 items and was on to Walmart where all of the CRAZIES were!!! No shopping carts, so I was pushing my big box around the whole store and sweating!!
Needless to say, we had a great Thanksgiving this year!!!
